(Feb.) New York: Greeley and McElrath, 1845. The book is written at the suggestion of Horace Greeley and is an expansion of her essay “The Great Lawsuit,” published in The Dial two years earlier. In it, Fuller declares, “We could have every path laid open to Woman as freely as to Man.” All 1500 copies sell out within two weeks.
